let time taken be t
(t+1/2)/2 + t/3 - (t+1/2)/6 =1
solve for t
t= 1.25
or hence time taken = 1 hour 15 mins
hence B is the answer

Leak was already there when he noticed upon starting X pipe. This can be represented as: (3-1)*0.5hr= 1 unit.
Remaining work to be done=5 units.
Now y is opened too. We need to find the hours after the leak was identified and where, all the three are involved
Therefore, (3+2-1)*t=5. Solving for t, gives 5/4*60=75mins==> 1hr 15 mins.
