Probability of a grape in the 2 unit box:

Ways to pick 2
flavors=6!/2!4!= 15

Ways to pick 1 flavor from
5, since grape is assumed =
5

Probability: 5/15=1/3

Probability of grape in a 3 unit box:

Ways to pick 3 flavors=
6!/3!3! = 20

Ways to pick 2 flavors
from 5 = 5!/2!3!= 10

Probability: 10/20= 1/2

Probability of grape in 4 unit box:

Ways to pick 4 flavors=
6!/2!4!= 15

Ways to pick 3 flavors from
5= 5!/3!2!= 10

Probability= 10/15= 2/3

Assuming each assortment has an equal chance of being selected, 1/3, overall probability equals:

1/3*(1/3+1/2+2/3)=
1/3*3/2=

1/2

Easiest solution:

The probability of a grape being selected out of the 6 flavors is

1/6

There are as many opportunities for grape to be selected as there are spots available in each box, and with each box having 1/3 chance of being picked:

1/6*(2+3+4)*1/3 = 9/6*1/3 =

3/6 = 1/2
