A container has 4L of pure wine. 1L from the container is taken out and 2L water is added. The process is repeated several times. After 12 such operations, quantity of wine in mixture is

A. 1/20 L
B. 1/7 L
C. 1/4 L
D. 2/9 L
E. 4/5 L

Posted from my mobile device
CixVi= CfxVf
Ci= 1 (Pure Wine)
Vi= 4-1 =3 L
Vf= 3+2 =5 L
1x3=Cfx5
Cf= 1(3/5)
Operation is done 12 times
Cf= 1(3/5)x(4/6)x(5/7)..........(14/16)
Cf= 1/20
Vf=16 ( In last operation Vf is 16)
Amount of Wine = CfVf
=4/5

Stanindaw Could you please explain how CixVi= CfxVf? I have gone through KarishmaB explanation, but I did not understand -
Quote:
1. When a fraction of a solution is removed, the percentage of either part does not change. If milk:water = 1:1 in initial solution, it remains 1:1 in final solution.
2. When you add one component to a solution, the amount of other component does not change. In milk and water solution, if you add water, amount of milk is the same (not percentage but amount)
When we are removing one litre of the solution for every iteration, doesn't a part of the wine also get removed and hence the change in its percentage?
