Now, coming to logic between relative speed.

Sylvia travels 48 miles in an hour. Her husband (H) travels 55 miles in an hour. So, H effectively travels 7 more miles than Sylvia every hour.

Please note that since H's speed is greater, the distance between the two will keep decreasing at the rate of 7 miles per hour. (Till he crosses her.)
So max distance b/w them will be 36 miles when H is at starting point.
In 1st hour, gap will reduce by 7, 36-7= 29,
2nd hour, 29-7= 22 and so on.

So, to travel 36 miles, H will travel (7x5) + 1 miles
5 hours. Remaining 1 mile at 1/7 hours i.e 8 minutes.

Hence, 5 hours and 8 minutes.

Bunuel don't you think question should mention the word "approximate"; since we are not getting the exact answer and 1/7 hour is 8.57 minute not exactly 8.
