Hi
Even I got A as answer.
Can you please explain how the answer is D?
though statement 2 couldn't define anything to me but still would like to know as I was twisted in the language of the question.
Regards
Celestial

A question is from Optimus Prep.
The shown correct answer is D (EACH statement ALONE is sufficient). But I feel that there is something wrong with the question. Please explain its solution.

It looks like there is mistake in question or in answer.
1) We know that \(147\) residents don't like Wrestling and \(\frac{6}{7}\) from them dislike boxing and this equal to \(126\) people. So Like Boxing and dislike Wrestling equal to \(21\)
Sufficient

2) Total \(441\) people and a lot of variants possible: variant from 1 statement and for example \(7\) people don't like Wrestling \(6\) from them don't like Boxing and \(1\) like boxing
Insufficient

I think that answer is A.

I don't know how statement 2 can also be sufficient. I encountered this DS problem while I was doing a practice assignement in my Optimus GMAT on Demand Course. I was suprised when I saw that the "correct" answer was D. When I read the solution, it was also unclear. That's why I decided to put the problem in this forum to see other members' opinion. I don't know whether I am missing anything.

Hi shohrat6383,

I think that we all agree that the posted answer is incorrect. You mentioned a 'unclear' written explanation that came with the question. Can you post that explanation here?

I missed the explanation when I logged out of the online in demand program and haven't been able to find it by now. I'll put it here if I find.

Each resident of Ranchville either likes or dislikes Wrestling and each resident either likes or dislikes Boxing. Of this residents who dislike Wrestling, 6/7 dislike Boxing. How many residents of Ranchville like Boxing but dislike Wrestling?

(1) 147 residents of Ranchville dislike Wrestling
(2) There are 441 residents in Ranchville in total

A question is from Optimus Prep.

Has to be option A. I dont see how Statement 2 can be used to derive the answer.
