1 is insufficient because we do not know the value of a
2 is sufficient because consecutive integers are always even

Answer is B :-D

Lets take statement 1)
b=3 then if a is even then ab=even
if a is odd then ab=odd
therefore, this statement is not sufficient.

Now 2) the product of consecutive integers is always even (eg: 2x3,3x4,4x5) etc..

Therefore B is the right answer.

If a and b are positive integers, is the product ab odd?

(1) b = 3
(2) a and b are consecutive integers.

#1, If a=3 ab=odd;
If a=2, ab=even. Insufficient.

#2 product of any two consecutive +ve integers has to be even. So ab not odd. Sufficient B
