A store sells kitchen items. In this store, all knives of type X have same price. Also all plates of type P have same price. Danny bought 3 knives of type X and 4 plates of type P from this store. How much did Danny pay for this purchase in dollars?
(1) If Danny had instead bought 6 knives of type X and 2 plates of type P, he would have paid 12 dollars more than what he paid now.
(2) Cost of a knife X is 1/3 more than that of a plate of type P.

According to the Q-Stem : 3x+4p= ?
(1) 6x+2p-3x-4p=12 or 3x-2p=12..........................not sufficient
(2) \(p=x+\frac{x}{3}\) or \(p=\frac{4x}{3}\) ........................not sufficient
(1)+(2) ==> replacing value of p in eqn 01 ==>
\(3x-2*\frac{4x}{3} =12\)
or \(\frac{(9x-8x)}{3}=12\)
or or \(\frac{x}{3}=12\)
or or \(x=36\) hence \(p=\frac{4x}{3}\)=\(48\)
As we know value of both x & P, we can determine 3x+4p..........................Sufficient ....... Thus I will go for option C.

Let x be price of knives and p be price of plates
Need to calculate 3X+4P
I)6x+2p=12
Only one equation can't find value of 3x+4p
Insufficient
II)x=4p/3
P as unknown will still be in eqn 3x +4p
Combining both statements
One variable eqn
10p=12
We can find values of x and p
So sufficient
