QZ
S = 4,x,y,....

In the sequence above, each term is the product of the previous term and a fixed positive integer. What is the fourth term in the sequence?

1. x = 12

2. x = 36

QZ

are your sure the question is correct? because both statements cannot give you different values of x. IMO statement II should be y=36. Pls check

Hey niks18,

You are correct. Statement 2 is y = 36 and has been corrected by chetan2u.

Sorry for inconvenience.

1. x = 12

2. y = 36

S=4,x,y...

each term is product of the previous term and a fixed positive integer, say k.
so x=4k..... y =kx=4k^2.....4th term = 4k^3

so we require to find value of k

1) x=12..
x=4k=12....k=3
4th term = \(3^3*4\)
sufficient

2) y=36..
\(y=k^24=36....k=3\)
4th term = \(3^3*4\)
sufficient
