If u < v < w and x < y < z, is v < y?

(1) u < x

(2) w < x

For v < y any of the following conditions is necessary
a. w < x
b. w < y

Statement 1) u < x

Possibilities are as follows:
I. u < x < v < w < y < z i.e. v < y
II. u < x < y < v < w < z i.e. v > y

Since it results in both Yes and No answer statement is INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2) w < x

Possibilities are as follows:
I. u < v < w < x < y < z i.e. v < y

i.e. only one conditions.

Also, this statement matches point ‘a’, hence it is SUFFICIENT.

Answer (B).

Given u < v < w and x < y < z

Consider (1) u<x : x value can be <y or >y .....clearly insufficient
Consider (2) w<x : implies clearly that v<x so v<y .....sufficient

IMO B is the answer.

Because If u<v<w and x<y<z and w<x then V has to be < y.

Statement 1:
If u<v<w and x<y<z, is v<y?

(1) u<x possible scenarios
a) u<x<v<y<..
b) u<x<y<v<..
Not sufficient

(2) w<x
greatest on 1st equation is less than smallest of second
only one scenario is possible
u<v<w <x<y<z
Hence sufficient
Thus B is the answer
