In the figure above, point X lies inside the circle with center O and radius 2. Does point Y lie on the circle?

(1) The distance from O to X is 1.
(2) The distance from X to Y is 1.

Statement 1: The distance from O to X is 1.
The statement gives no information regarding Y, so clearly Insufficient.

Statement 2: The distance from X to Y is 1.
Now if Y is in the same line as X and O, it could lie on the the circle, but if Y anywhere other than that, it would lie in the circle, so we cannot deduce anything specific about position of Y.
Thus, Insufficient.

Statement 1 + Statement 2:
OX =1, XY =1,
Again, if O, X, Y lie on the same line, i.e. all are collinear, Y would lie on the circle, else inside the circle.
Thus both statements combined are also Insufficient.

Given: In the figure above, point X lies inside the circle with center O and radius 2.
Asked: Does point Y lie on the circle?

(1) The distance from O to X is 1.
Noting is mentioned about point Y.
NOT SUFFICIENT

(2) The distance from X to Y is 1.
Noting is mentioned about point X and its distance from O.
NOT SUFFICIENT

(1) + (2)
(1) The distance from O to X is 1.
(2) The distance from X to Y is 1.
If point Y lies on the line joining O & X and farther from O, then Yes, otherwise No
NOT SUFFICIENT
