This is A pieces of the Puzzle type of question. Here we need to get to actual values.
Statement 1:|2x + 3| = 4
-4 = 2x + 3 = 4
-7 = 2x = 1
-3.5 = x = 0.5
Here we are getting 2 values of x
Therefore Statement 1 Alone is Insufficient. Answer options could be B, C or E
Statement 2: |4x – 4| = 2
-2 = 4x - 4 = 2
2 = 4x = 6
0.5 = x = 1.5
Here we are getting 2 values of x
Therefore Statement 2 Alone is Insufficient. Answer Options could be C or E
Combining Both Statements:
From Statement 1, x = -3.5 and x = 0.5 and from statement 2, x = 0.5 and x = 1.5
Here one common value from both the equations, which satisfy them both is x = 0.5
Therefore Both Statements together are Sufficient.
