Let the current number of books be N

From statement (1): N + 20 − 10 = 100
so we can find N

so this statement is sufficient

Statement (2) :

N -30 <= 50

⇒ N <= 80

So what we can get is the value of N will be less than or equal to 80

not sufficient

Hence Answer is A

A certain section of a library currently has how many books?

(1) If 20 additional books are bought for this section and 10 of the present books are moved into a different section, then there are 100 books left in this section.
(2) If no additional books are bought for this section but 30 of the present books are moved into a different section, there will be fewer than 50 books in this section

Let the current number of books in the library section be B.

Statement 1:

(1) If 20 additional books are bought for this section and 10 of the present books are moved into a different section, then there are 100 books left in this section.

B +20 -10 = 100

B = 90

Hence, Sufficient

Statement 2:

(2) If no additional books are bought for this section but 30 of the present books are moved into a different section, there will be fewer than 50 books in this section

B+0-30 < 50

B < 80

B can take any values less than 80.

Hence, Insufficient

Option A
