We need to find the distance from Sacramento to Los Angeles.

Statement 1:

(1) A car that obtains 28 miles per gallon drove the distance on exactly one tank of gasoline.

We don’t know the tank capacity, that’s the number of gallons it can hold.

Hence, Insufficient.

Statement 2:

(2) Another car averaged 50 miles per hour and arrived in 8 hours.

Average Speed = (Total Distance travelled) / Total time taken

50 mph = distance /8

Thus , distance travelled = 50*8 = 400 miles.

Hence, Sufficient
