Let #brands that increased its WP = x and that did not increase = y
Asked: x/(x+y) * 100
We need value of x and y or some relation b/w them

S1
Increased price by >= 2/pound = x*0.25
We do not know anything about y
Insufficient

S2
Increased price by >=2/pond = (x+y) * 0.15
This still doesn't give us any relation b/w x and y or their individual values
Insufficient

x*0.25 = (x+y) * 0.15
5x = 3x+3y
2x=3y
x=1.5y

Let us assume that x% of brands surveyed increased their wholesale price this year.

(1) 25%x%= x%/4 increased it by at least $2 per pound and 3x%/4 increased it by less than $2 per pound
x can not be ascertained from the information
Not sufficient

(2) 15% increased their price by at least $2 per pound
x can not be ascertained from the information
Not sufficient

(1) + (2)
(1) x%/4 increased the price by at least $2 per pound
(2) 15% increased the price by at least $2 per pound
x%/4 = 15%

Deconstructing the Question
Let \(T\) be the Total number of brands surveyed.
Let \(I\) be the number of brands that Increased their price.
Let \(S\) be the subset of brands that increased their price by at least $2.

Target: Find the percentage of brands that increased their price (\(\frac{I}{T} \times 100\)).

Analyze Statement (1)
"Of the brands that increased their price, 25% increased it by at least $2 per pound."
Equation: \(S = 0.25 \times I\).
This gives a relationship between the subset \(S\) and the group \(I\), but we have no information about the total population \(T\).
We cannot find the ratio \(\frac{I}{T}\).

INSUFFICIENT

Analyze Statement (2)
"Of all the brands surveyed, 15% increased their price by at least $2 per pound."
Equation: \(S = 0.15 \times T\).

This relates the subset \(S\) to the total population \(T\), but tells us nothing about the intermediate group \(I\) (those who increased by any amount).

INSUFFICIENT

Combine Statements (1) and (2)
We have two equations for \(S\):
1. \(S = 0.25 I\)
2. \(S = 0.15 T\)

Equating them: \(0.25 I = 0.15 T\)

Now, solve for the ratio \(\frac{I}{T}\):

\(I = \frac{0.15}{0.25} T\)

\(I = \frac{15}{25} T\)

\(I = \frac{3}{5} T\)

\(I = 0.60 T\)

So, 60% of the brands surveyed increased their wholesale price.

SUFFICIENT

Let, percentage of brands that increased their wholesale price this year = x
(1) of the brands that increase their price, 25% increased it by at least $2per pound.
No info about how large the overall group is.
Insufficient

(2) of all the brand surveyed, 15% increase their price by at least dollar two per pound.
Some brands might have increased their price by less than $2, no info is provided about those brands.
Insufficient

0.25 *x =15%
x=15%/0.25=0.60 or 60%

Question = m/x ?

Statement 1

m/4 increased by 25%. This statement doesn't help finding the ratio of m/n. Not sufficient.

Statement 2

Not sufficient as we don't know the percentage of brand that increased the price which is less than $2.

Combined

m/4 represents the 15%

m / 4 / x = 15/100

Hence we can find the ratio of m/x

Sufficient

the answer is 60% of brands increased their price this year.

Assuming that total brands surveyed are 100, so 15% of 100 Brands= 15, which is equal to 25% of brands that increased their price

so, 15=25% x X, where X is the number of brands that increased their price

This way, X=60
So, assuming total brands=100
brands that increased their price=60
brands that did not increase their price= 40 (100-60)

Therefore, the percentage of brands that increased their price= 60/100x100= 60%

Statement 1: Tells us only fraction of brands increased their price but nothing about how many exactly increasers are there.
Statement 2: Tells us how many increased by $2 no other value of increase amongst the other people are mentioned.

Bringing both together: we can say 25 percent of brands who increased >= $2
and 15% of all brands increased by >= $2
So we can say 25% of x = 15
So 0.25*x = 15.
Hence value of x can be determined.
Hence C.

Lets call X the number of brands that increased their price, and Y the number of brands that increased their price by at least 2$. T is the total number of brands.
We have to find X/T.

(1) alone
This statements tells you that:
0.25X=Y
You have no way to find X nor T.

(2) alone
This statement tells you that:
0.15T=Y
You have no way to find X or T.

(1) and (2) together
I have two definitions of Y: Y=0.15T and Y=0.25X
0.25X=0.15T
X/T=0.15/0.25
X/T=0.6

Both statements together are sufficient

Assuming 100 total and x be the brands that increased from all the surveyed.
A.) 0.25x increased price >= $2 per pound // not enough
B.) 15 of total 100 increased price >= $2 per pound // not enough

Combine A and B => 15 = 0.25x => x = 60
hence C, both statement is sufficient.

Let x% be the number of brands that increased their price. From statement 1, x/4 number of brands increased price by at least 2.

We still do not know x. Not sufficient.

From statement 2, we can’t find the number of brands where price had increased by 1. Not sufficient

Combining both the statements, we can say that x/4= 15% and therefore, x=60%. Sufficient.

Therefore, Option C

Let x be the total number of brands surveyed. Let y be the number of brands that increased their wholesale price. The question asks us to find:
(y/x)*100

S1: Of the brands that increased their price, 25% increased it by at least $2 per pound
This statement only provides us with the data that out of the brands that increased their price, 25% of them increased it by a certain amount. Does this give us any idea about the total number of all the brands that increased their price? NO, so S1 is insufficient.

S2: Of all the brands surveyed, 15% increased their price by at least $2 per pound
It could be that the other 20% increased their price by $5, OR the other 30% increased by $5, we do not get any definite percentage. S2 is also insufficient.

S1&S2

y'(who increased their price by at least $2 per pound) = 0.25*y (S1)
y'(who increased their price by at least $2 per pound) = 0.15*x (S2)

0.25*y = 0.15*x
y/x = 0.15/0.25 = 3/5 = 60%

Option C (sufficient together, not alone)

Ask: (Brands that increased their wholesale price/ total number of coffee brands surveyed). Lets call the numerator X and denominator as total. So, we need to find x/total
St 1- It tells us that 25% of x has increased by at least 2$. But it does not tell us about x as whole to total. So, NS.
St 2- Of all brands, 15% increased by at least 2$. What about others? Are there others that increased by at most 2$? We dont know. So, NS.
On combining, we know that 15% of total = 25% of X (since both are equating to brands that increased by at least 2$). So, X/Total = 15/25=3/5=60%.
Since the question is asked in terms of percentage and not the count of total coffee brands,
