It’s given
n L/hr is drain rate
m L/hr is inlet rate

And n>m so more water is drained than it is added every hour. ( a necessary condition for tank to be empty after a while)

Water in tank before pump starts = 168 L

1. n-m = 24 L/hr so basically every hour 24 L water is removed

We can find the time taken to empty the tank by simply dividing 168/24=7 hr
Sufficient

2 given after 3 hrs 96L of water is remaining
Amount of water removed in 3hr = 168-96=72 L
So amount of water removed in 1 hr = 72/3=24 L

Now we can again find the no of hrs to empty the tank by simply dividing 168/24=7 hr

Sufficient

Hence D
