A alone will also be sufficient.
if father weighs twice currently, then F=2R, (given)
from statement 1, 5 years ago father weighs 3 times, implies F-5=3(R-5)
now, substituting the given fact thet F=2R, we conclude that R=10 (Current age of Raymond).

so, the correct answer should be D

Raymond’s father weighs twice as much as Raymond. How much does Raymond weigh?

Let Raymond’s current weight be R. Then his father’s current weight is 2R.

(1) Raymond’s father weighs 3 times as much as Raymond weighed 5 years ago.

This says 2R equals 3 times Raymond’s weight 5 years ago. But we do not know Raymond’s weight 5 years ago, so R cannot be determined. Not sufficient.

(2) If Raymond’s father weighed 100 pounds more, he would weigh 3 times as much as Raymond.

Raymond’s father weighs 2R, so:

2R + 100 = 3R

R = 100

Sufficient.

Answer: B.

The answer should be and is B. The mistake is confusing years with pounds. “5 years ago” tells us when Raymond had that weight, not how many pounds less he weighed. So statement (1) does not give Raymond’s current weight.
