Of the 9,000 people who voted in a recent election, how many women voted for candidate X?

(1) The percentage of women voting for candidate X was twice the percentage of women voting against candidate X.
(2) 3000 men voted for candidate X.

question is asking about votes given by women from st one nothing is given about % or actual value no data only relation b/w women who voted or not voted st 2 men gives 3000 votes for condidate X but we donot know how many womenvoted for candidate X since totel vote is 9000 for how many candidate is this data only for X not given so answer is E

I went for C because I thought if 3000 men are there which would mean 6000 women are there 
Then if we use first statement : considering x women voted for X
(X/9000) *100 = 2* (6000-x/9000)*100
And we can find x
Why is C wrong here, can you please explain?

The key issue is that 3,000 men voted for candidate X does  not  mean that there were only 3,000 men in total. There could be additional men who voted against X, so we  cannot  conclude that there were 6,000 women.

Also, in statement (1), the percentages are percentages  of women , not of all 9,000 voters. If there are W women and x of them voted for X, the relationship would be:

x/W = 2(W - x)/W

This gives x = 2W/3, but since W is unknown, we still cannot determine x.

So even together, the statements are  not sufficient .
