A little additional information - don't be too worried about the essay. It's pretty formulaic and you really just need to keep yourself out of the bottom 20% of scorers (less than 4.0)...

I'm very bad at writing essays. I'm always having trouble with keeping the structure of an essay right, just bouncing back and forth between different topics.
How can i learn to write better essays? I don't like writing essays, how could i learn to like it, as it would propably also make it easier to write one?

Thanks in advance!

I'm probably going to sound really weird, but I love writing essays. I have one that I'm writing at the moment and it's 2100 words already. Anyway, I just take breaks in between and write whatever comes to mind. I end up getting so sucked in and writing so much that I don't even realize that I do. Music helps me, so maybe listen to music? Cut out all things that are distracting you and don't go back to them until you've finished.

Essay writing is a daunting affair for most working students today. The workload is enormous and the study hours are on the increase to ensure the syllabus is fully covered.
Tips on Writing an Effective Essay:

1. Give your essays an interesting and appropriate title. It will help draw the attention of the reader and pique their curiosity

2. Keep it between 300-500 words. This is the ideal length, you can take creative license to increase or decrease it

3. Keep your language simple and crisp. Unnecessary complicated and difficult words break the flow of the sentence.

4. Do not make grammar mistakes, use correct punctuation and spellings. If this is not done it will distract the reader from the content

5. Before beginning the essay organize your thought and plot a rough draft. This way you can ensure the story will flow and not be an unorganized mess.

It is a massive headache when you realize the GMAT is just the first hurdle and the actual application essays are what will determine your fate at a school like INSEAD. I have seen so many candidates with incredible scores get rejected because their narrative was disjointed or their tone didn't align with the school's culture. If you aren't starting with a clear strategic plan for your personal story, no amount of basic proofreading is going to save a weak application.
