How important is the Dec 1 deadline vs. March 1 for UNC MAC?
I live in Raleigh and just decided I want to try and apply to the program. I haven't taken my GMAT yet. Should I hurry up and try and take it, or wait and study a bit?
My background:
-30 yrs old.
-BA in French from Big 12 school GPA: 3.4 (Good Grades in MacroEcon and Calc II) w/ 1 yr study abroad in France.
-1 yr grad school in French Lit right after undergrad -decided it wasn't for me.
-5 years designing and guiding luxury cycling trips in France/Italy. Also have management experience.
-Fluent in French, basic Italian
-Just got back from volunteering with Peace Corps.
If my GMAT ends up not being super-strong , will some of my experiences help me out? or is admissions not really interested in that for this program? (I should do OK on Gmat, i think. Took GRE in 2003 and did pretty well.)
N.B. I won't be applying to other programs, as my wife's job will keep us in the area for at-least one more year.

Are you trying to get a post-graduate school career in public accounting (Big 4, etc)?
Your age may be an issue, if that is the case. Big 4 firms want younger kids from typical 5 year program for staff audit and tax positions. Maybe it would be better for you to pursue a MBA designation instead.

Age is not necessarily going to keep you from Big 4, if that is indeed what you want. I'm interning with KPMG this winter, and one of the other interns is 30 years old. It may be more difficult, but definitely doable.
