Hi everyone!
I hope everyone is staying safe.
It would be of great help if someone could help me in evaluating my profile for MiM programs.
Target Universities - HEC Paris, ESCP, ESSEC, LBS, IE, ESADE, Bocconi, RSM, Schulich School of Business, Ivey, WHU, HHL, UCD
A 23-year-old male engineer from India.
Academics:
10th: 9.2/10
12th: 82.46% (Maharashtra State Board)
Grad: B.E Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Visvesvarya Technological Unverisity, India (2019 Passout) - 7.28/10 CGPA (Top 10% of the class) - 2 backlogs (all cleared before graduating)
Achievements:
1. House Captain in Junior College (2014) - House secured the first position
2. 12th Board (High School) merit rank holder (Rank 1) in college in Computer Science Stream
3. Graduation final year project selected as one of the best projects in the university and received partial funding.
4. One research paper published in an International Journal (JETIR International Journal(ISSN: 2349-5162))
5. National Basketball Player - Participated in All India Inter AEES Basketball Championship U-16 Men's category- Stood 4th
6. Served National Cadet Corps for one year -Passed Certificate 'A' exam
7. All India Camlin Painting Competition - School level second
8. National Cyber Olympiad City Rank - 2 (2014)
9. Established Rotaract Club in my college - Served as Charter President for the club and organised various fundraisers in the district

3. 12 months* of full-time work experience with Aon Consulting as an Associate. (Working in the Assessment Practice and Talent Consulting vertical at Aon)

There are few things that I would like to point.
1) 7.2 cgpa with 2 backlogs and still 10% of class, looks very suspicious to me and would look to the adcoms as well.
2) Gmat/Gre is 20-30% of your application but still it plays a very important role,which is missing from your profile. ( Score as high as possible)
Coming to your profile it has some strong points like you have a diverse extracurriculars, work ex, research paper.
Weaknesses would be your backlog, college rank, average cgpa.
To conclude firstly give it your best shot on the gmat/gre. Secondly you can't write or use all your extracurricular activities in your resume or essays so focus on the story and motivation and then choose your extracurricular activities.
Coming to the colleges,
Hec is out coz of your college rank.
For Lbs you would need a very high gmat or gre as it's very cgpa,centric aim. In gmat score 710 and above or 322+ on gre.
ESSEC and ESCP follows a very holistic approach so focus on your essays part coz they can make or break your case.
In the end, get at least 680 on gmat and 318+ on the gre and try to apply in Round 1.

Coming to the backlogs part, yes I had 2 backlogs and cleared it well before starting off with my final year. Also, my university has very strict evaluation guidelines, that's why scoring above 8.0 is very difficult (CGPA across 4 years).
Having a small class size of 60, strict evaluation guidelines (the year which I had backlogs, in that year pass percentage was less than 40%) and coming to college rank, my college (BMSIT&M, ranked top 5 colleges of Bangalore) is affiliated to VTU.
Coming to the backlogs part, yes I had 2 backlogs and cleared it well before starting off with my final year. Also, my university has very strict evaluation guidelines, that's why scoring above 8.0 is very difficult (CGPA across 4 years).
