Hi

im looking to apply to macc programs for fall 2010 entry.
what's my chance of getting into top macc programs at university of texas, uva, washu, usc, boston college?

Undergrad:top 25 in the US
Major: business
Gpa:3.1~3.2
Gmat:680 (47 math, 33 verbal, 4 awa)
Experience: 5-month long internship at a small investment bank, internships in foreign countries, & CFA level II candidiate.

Your GMAT score is very competitive for MACC program. However, your GPA is kinda low for a very competitive program such as UTexas, UVA, USC etc. Especially for accounting recruiting, GPA is a key. You would need to somehow demonstrate in your application that you are better than what your GPA says on your transcript. For MS program, work experience isn't required, but it can help.

Should I retake GMAT to make up for my low gpa?
or should i just focus on essays?

Your GMAT is pretty competitive for MS Accounting programs. Going over 700 isn't gonna hurt you, but I am not sure how much it will help you compared to your numbers now. Focus on essays, and try to demonstrate that you can handle the graduate level work at top programs in your application.
