I made a thread about this earlier, compared it to MBA in Finance. The replies I received were more in the neighborhood of an MS vs. MBA. Now I'm hoping to receive replies regarding this particular program.
I actually, accidentally met a recruiter from NYU-Poly for an MFE, while studying for my GMAT. Now, I told him I wasn't going to decide just yet. However, I had my heart set on an MBA. Lately I've had somewhat of a change of heart. I started wondering about the opportunities. So I have a question, that I've actually e-mailed him about, but since I'm waiting on the reply, I was hoping to maybe get opinions of people here.
1) Is NYU-Poly a good school, or is the "NYU" part just a name and it's actually not that great?
2) What are the starting salaries and potential salaries for financial engineers? What my research has found and surprisingly I didn't find much, it looks like the salaries are pretty low.
3) Would I be able to get a job in finance with this degree that's not a financial engineer, such as in equity research?
4) Would a degree like this, help me get an MBA from an elite or ultra-elite school? Do the economics work out?
Thanks!
