Hi,
I have just finished my first term at business school and I now plan to slowly but gradually begin my GMAT studies. The first thing that came into my mind since I'm a non-native english speaker is what newspaper I should read to improve my verbal skills. Of course, it should be about business but what particular newspaper do the GMAT experts think I should read everyday for about 3 tp 4 years that will be optimal for greatly improving my english reading skills.
Thanks in advance!
Howdy!
Great question! You are in the perfect position to be successful in bschool if you are thinking about you should be reading to improve your reading skills and to improve your knowledge of business.
There are some great resources out there—some free and some expensive. Usually, you should be able to read a little bit from each news source, though, for free. Ultimately, I would recommend reading a little bit from each source, rotating from one new source to another to get a range of perspectives. Here's what I recommend:
The New York Times
The Economist
The Wall Street Journal
The Financial Times
You will find high quality, well-researched pieces in these news sources. These are trusted sources of news for many people in business, and if you read articles from these sources for 3 to 4 years, you will be more than ready to tackle the topics and issues that you will encounter in business.
I hope this helps!
