Mr. Schuler had finished repairing my computer by the time I arrived at his shop even though I was early.

I believe 'early' and 'a bit early' doesn't make much difference to the meaning of the sentence.
even though/although can generally be used for a favorable outcome out of an unfavorable situation or for an unfavorable outcome out of a favorable situation.
In this case, although or even though is required to highlight that the outcome is favorable, despite having some unfavorable situation.
Mr. Schuler had finished repairing my computer when I arrived at his shop a bit early could be grammatically correct. But, we have a better choice, which highlights what is required. May be if choice A is not in the options, B could've been selected.

(A) clarifies the situation much better than (B).
This is what happened. I arrived at his shop early. Still, he had finished repairing my computer (In contrast to what I had expected).
"Even though" in (A) shows the contrast.
Put in other words, (B) gives "When I arrived at his shop a bit early, he had finished repairing my computer." - that doesn't make sense, right? When I arrived early, I saw that he had done it. Kind of implies that when I arrive on time, he is usually not done.
. Can you please help me in understanding what's wrong?
