Losing confidence in Verbal,need help

Question

I just started preparing verbal and I am having a few issues. I am using MGMAT SC guide and Powerscore CR Bible. MGMAT chapters explain the theory well,but the practise problems are not like the questions on the GMAT. Sure I have to do the drill to understand the concept just explained in the chapter, but even if I am able to get 12/15 correct,I feel like I might flounder facing the real questions. What should I do??

Should I be working on questions separately topicwise?? Like solving questions specific to subject-verb agreement from gmatclub`s archive after learning the theory?But since I would be knowing that I am solving the question from subject verb agreement,I would just be looking for errors in subject and verb.I won`t have this advantage in exams and so I don`t want to condition my thinking like that.

Or,
Learn the theory from the book for all chapters and then start with the questions?This way I might be throwing my mind straight into the deep end of the pool.

Same question for CR also(as the number of questions after each topic are very few).Also can you please tell me where to prepare RC from?I don`t want to use a book as I feel pretty comfortable in RC.

PS-My date is 3rd Nov,need urgent help

The appendix in MGMAT lists the questions in the official material (official guide and verbal review) that test each topic (subject-verb agreement, etc.). As you fear that you may struggle on real questions, it might help to solve the official questions corresponding to the topic that you have finished studying. While solving the questions, pay attention to how the questions are phrased and try to devise a strategy you could apply to those questions even if you did not know they belong to that type.

For CR also, you can follow a similar approach as there are distinct question types.

For RC, reading representative passages and articles from official material and pubs such as The Economist should help. Whenever you read, read with intent and try to grasp the gist of what the author is trying to convey.

Thanks for the reply,I will follow this approach to complete the OG questions. However if I still don`t feel confident regarding SC after solving OG(yes I`m terrified of SC),from where can I get more practise questions(for solving without knowing which chapter it pertains to)??

I saw a couple documents on GMAT club, GMATPrep comprehensive SC and GPSC, that contain many
official questions from the GMATPrep tests, official guide, and verbal review. After you are done with the official guide and the verbal review, you could go through these docs and do questions that you haven't encountered before.

Other good, official sources are the Gmat exam pack and the question pack.

Ideally, you should be learning core material with small exercises (such as through our course or something similar). Then transition over to the above practice questions.
