If you are applying to top 10 schools, and you *just* started preparing for the GMAT and you don't think you can score over 700 in the next month, then I do agree that you are a bit late to apply this cycle. The later in the rolling admissions process you apply, the less seats there are in the class...which makes it more competitive as time goes on. It seems like you might just need to start preparing and apply for the next cycle year unless you can take the GMAT in December and hope for the best.

Though I have some preparation background in Aptitude and Verbal, appearing for GMAT this December would be a rush for me.I read somewhere that there are different sessions for admissions like Fall/Spring/Winter in some schools. Do I have any chances on that front or I am left with the only option to wait for more than a year till I get into a good b-school?

I have never heard of staggered admissions cycles for full-time 2 year MBA programs at the top schools. I've only seen it for part-time and EMBA programs. Maybe someone else has any insight?
