Hi madmax1000,

How have you been scoring on your practice CATs (not the Club Tests)?

If you're not comfortable with the overall material or you think that you're performing in an inconsistent way, then you might consider pushing back your Test Date. The extra study time would help you to figure out (and fix) any inconsistencies.

on the manhattan i scored between 600 and 670. Q is always above 45. I want to break the 700 though, that's why I am hard core working on the club tests and repeating the wrong questions over and over and printing them out. I think that is the best work out.

Hi madmax1000,

Can you provide more specific information on your practice CAT results:

1) What were the Scaled Scores for the Quant and Verbal sections on each specific CAT?
2) What was the Overall Score on each?
3) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections) or did you skip sections?

Saying that you always score Q45+ isn't specific-enough information. Since your goal is to score 700+, I really need all of the details to properly assess your situation.

Here is what I did:
The 2 official practice exams:
670 Q44/V38
620 Q47/V29

Three MGMAT CATs

620 Q40/V35
600 Q42/V32
660 Q45/V35

Gmat Club Tests:
Q46
Q36
V31

Actually as I review my stats, Q is not always above 45.. On the last verbal V31 I got just 12 Questions wrong, with very long strains of right questions though. Would I get more points on the real one?

I work out like Schwarzenegger on the gmat club questions, I really want to break 700... Also I went through the Kaplan Premier and all Manhattan Quant ones. For Verbal I got a trainer, because I am foreigner.

Hi madmax1000,

There are a number of different 'score combinations' that can get you to a 700+ score. As you can see from your score results, small variations could put you slightly above or slightly below a given score.

From your Scaled Scores, you have a fairly equal opportunity to pick up missing points in the Quant and Verbal sections. At this scoring level though, you can't afford to making any silly/little mistakes. To that end, you should focus on honing your 'precision' - it's not going to take much to pick up those missing points, but you're not going to 'luck' your way into them - you'll earn those points by doing better physical work (note-taking, etc.). With a week to go, you should plan on taking one more FULL-LENGTH CAT and put the rest of your time into some additional practice, review, etc.

Verbal I am handling pretty well on a constant level. The last two gmatclub Q cats were 50 and 47.

The manhattan Quants are IMHO way harder. At least for me they feel harder. Last full mgmat cat was 43/40 690.

I think I am struggling the most with long PS questions.

Hi madmax1000,

Since your Test Day is just about here, it's important to NOT cram in too much studying in these last days. A little light review is fine, but do NOT take any CATs or Club Tests. There is no benefit to taking those Tests now and you want to go into Test Day relaxed and well-rested if possible. Try to get a good night's sleep and be prepared for a long day. Do smart work, on the pad, and make good decisions - you've shown that you have the ability to score at a high level, so now you just need to deliver up to your ability.

Hi there,

I was wondering why my quant score on the club tests vary that much. I got 2 days ago 47 now a 37... but on the 37 one were a lot harder questions, almost only 700s while there where a lot of 600 question on the 47 one. Is it that the tests become harder by the time or am I not fit enough? I got exam in 10 days and I am really worrying about that extreme volatility in results..

greets,
madmax

Hi Madmax1000,

The key to cracking the GMAT exam is the time management, and choice of attempt. You have to select the feasibility of attempting an question, and yes the GMAT gets tougher with each correct answer, so you should know which question to avoid(if the difficulty get's too tough) and should move ahead. The volatility can only be hedged by taking lot of tests and practicing various types of tests.

All the best.
