Hi Experts,
I am from India and I am quite clueless about the B school admission procedure for US B schools.
From what I have heard , there are three rounds of applications and one is supposed to send one’s GMAT scores , admission essays and recommendation letters to B schools while applying.
I have also heard there is an early application sort of thing as well but I don’t know what it is.
Could you please shed some light on the below?
1. What is early application (application before round 1)? If it exists, what does one have to do apply early? What are the advantages?
2. How does one go about applying for scholarships? What does an international student have to do to get funding (scholarships)?
Thank you for your replies to my earlier posts I greatly appreciate your help.

Hey.. Happy to help
First things first. Some schools have 3, some have 4 and some even have 2.
The number of Rounds depends on the school.
Being an international applicant, the Indians are advised to apply in R1 or R2
1. What is early application (application before round 1)? If it exists, what does one have to do apply early? What are the advantages?Early Decision Round is for the people who know that the particular school is their first choice and if you get through, you will not look any further.
Also you get an early decision in this Round, thus possibly ending your search for a B-School
The decision may be binding and you might have to attend the school if selected and withdraw your apps from other schools. You cannot go ahead and attend another school if you are admitted to one with binding offer in the early decision round.
However, the policy differs for every school and you should go ahead and check it on the schools website.
Columbia and Duke have a binding early action, where as Tuck and UNC (it has a higher deposit when compared to the regular round if selected) do not have a binding early action deadline.
2. How does one go about applying for scholarships? What does an international student have to do to get funding (scholarships)?

The international students are automatically considered for the scholarship in all (most) of the schools and there is no additional essays required for this.
Apart from this, there are other scholarships such as the one from Forte foundation. The forte foundation scholarship is usually given to the female candidates.
Let me know if you have any other question.
