VeritasPrepKarishma ankurgupta03 Thanks a lot guys for user replies.

Let me explain u my current scenario and please advise accordingly.

1) SC - Mistakes i make are totally avoidable, Whenever i do the same questions afterwards , i can simply find the right answer but don't know why do i always make mistakes in exam..
2) RC - I have worked a lot to bring down my number of mistakes to this level. Before this I used to get less than 50% correct.
3) CR - I feel like that i am able to do easy level questions but whenever i get a tough question(in sense of multiple attractive answer choice) I fall in trap even when i narrow down my selection to two. I make a mistake.(Gone through CR bible but feel like i am not able to totally apply their technique)

Above all, how to avoid the mistakes which i make in easy questions and which are totally avoidable..During exam i always tend to be attentive but why does it happen , i am confused and disheartened. I know that I can hit 700 mark but i am never able to see a good score in screen due to verbal mishaps.. :(

I don,t expect too much but atleast V35.

My GMAT is in 2 weeks and ready to put all efforts.

Regards,
Arjun

Hey Arjun,

When it comes to psychological aspects of the test and stress management - make sure you think extreme positivity and pay attention to this critical element of the test. We highly recommend that you read through the psychological tips that we put together for you on this blog post:

https://www.gmatpill.com/about/studying- ... trategies/

One tip we recommend is to go to bed -- mindful of the mistakes you made during the day -- review them. Then when you wake up, review them once more. That way, all the learnings are very fresh in your mind. It is more important to focus on learning from your mistakes --- quality, not just quantity.

You should watch along our video explanations for OG questions that you have already seen: https://www.gmatpill.com/official-guide-gmat/

Best of luck - and we are here to help.

Hi arjun1991,

The Verbal section of the GMAT is challenging for many Test Takers for a couple of reasons (that have nothing to do with intelligence):

1) Verbal questions do not have a 'safety net', so if you make a little mistake, there's no way to 'catch' that mistake (and you'll just end up selecting one of the wrong answers).
2) Almost everyone gets tired during the Verbal section (it's the last 75 minutes of a 4+ hour long Test), so you'll be tempted to 'give up' on questions. You'll likely find it more difficult to concentrate. At some point, you might even think to yourself "I just want this Test to be over." That specific thought is a BIG warning sign of trouble - the moment you want the Test to be over, you'll find ways to not try as hard, not take notes, etc., which will also cost you points.

What 'steps' do you go through when dealing with typical SC, RC and CR prompts? What type of notes do you take?

Thanks GMATPILLBILL
EMPOWERgmatRichC

I just gave Manhattanprep 6 and got a 660 Q45 v35.
Anyhow , this time looking at this score on screen was a little confidence booster but i was exhausted when i reached verbal portion after attempting other 3.

I feel that this fatigue can be reduced if i give tests multiple times, so i get used to it. However its not possible to give the test everyday or every alternate day.I will give the test every third day from now until my real exam.

For verbal portion my strategies are -
For SC - its kind of puzzle for me to solve based on the concepts i have learned + POE*
For CR - I tend to read the argument very carefully and make it the only thing in my mind and ask questions to myself. (lil scratch work - based on questions). + POE*
For RC - Again I tend to read carefully and answer the questions by referring the passage again.(But this time i felt that i could not concentrate a lot because of fatigue , so i will try to do some scratch work for RC's that come at the end) +POE*

Please let me know form your experience if you find myself going anywhere wrong.

Regards,
Arjun

Hi Arjun,

Taking a FULL CAT every 3 days is probably NOT a good idea. While you're attempting to improve your endurance, by taking so many CATs in such a short timeframe (and right before your Official GMAT), you could very easily 'burn out' right before you take the GMAT. As such, you'd be better served taking fewer CATs and working on the physical things you can do differently to improve your overall energy levels and attitude throughout the Test.

A bit more note-taking will likely help you a great deal with your CR and RC questions.

Hi arjun1991,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as hoped. It's likely that your concerns about endurance/fatigue were correct and that you probably needed more study time to properly train for the Official GMAT.

The process of applying to (and ultimately attending) Business School requires a considerable amount of time, money and energy. As such, you should really make sure that the degree that is offered by a particular Program is one that matches YOUR wants/needs. Instead of focusing on "which School will likely accept me", you should think about what you want out of the MBA, then find Schools that match up.

Here are some things to think about:

1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal.
2) What do you want your MBA to do for you?
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time?
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online?
Etc.

Once you've determined what type of Program you want to attend (as well as the other variables involved), then you can start to research and narrow down the possibilities. You might also want to retake the GMAT.
