Does the order of section selection affects the complication level

Hi,

In my last attempt in GMAT in which I scored 700(Q49, V36), I chose verbal first, and felt that the vocab was pretty difficult since I came across few really difficult terms/words specially in the CR section. I'm retaking GMAT next week, and I'm thinking to go with quant first this time since quant for me has never been much of a challenge. Also, I didn't do any warm-up questions before starting the test and had time-anxiety issues during the verbal part, because of which even though I was scoring 42/44 in the GMATPrep tests, my score dropped that badly during the actual test. The ESR showed 66 percentile in CR, 80 in RC and 82 in SC.

Any feedback/suggestions on the same? I would be grateful if someone could please suggest something I can do to improve.

Hi RR1,

Congrats on your score. 700 is a good score too.

Selecting the section order should be based on your strength.

Though selection of section differs from person to person, One should always prefer to start with section in which he or she is super strong.

If you feel you are better in Quants than in Vebal. Please opt for it.

But retaking GMAT exam won't help if there is no major score improvement.

Since you are reappearing for the GMAT, can I assume that you gave up both USC and BU?

First things first, kudos on the 700. It will help you relax when prepping for this exam.

You should read the PowerScore CR Bible all over again when you start with your preparation
for the next attempt. Work on 700+ level questions and try to do harder LSAT CR questions.
This should help you improve your accuracy in the CR section.

Do at least 3 RC on a daily basis. Read this  post  - should help with various strategies available!

When it comes to Quant, you should look to improving your score to Q51. Get the GMATClub
Quant tests(if you have not already got them). Work on them diligently and focus on learning
from your mistakes. Use an error log, which will help you eliminate the common mistakes you
make.
