ESR Analysis and Study Plan for Retest

Question

Hello Everyone,

I received my ESR. Got 640 on GMAT(Q47,V31). Request you all to please help me in analyzing the ESR and also how should I design my study plan for the retest.

Hello Nitish,

I am not an expert, but I can give you some good feedback.

VERBAL - FROM PERFORMANCE OVER TIME

You have spent considerable amount on Wrong Answers. Time taken by to answer the question incorrectly is more than 50% in each of set.
You definitely need to improve on this aspect.

VERBAL - FROM AVERAGE DIFFICULTY LEVEL

Because you have got few medium questions incorrect, you never faced any high difficulty level question. So you need to focus on getting medium questions right as well.

QUANTS - FROM PERCENTAGE CORRECT

Your effort in the first set was commendable and you got all the question right.
But from 2nd set on wards, I think you went nervous. And as you see the no of incorrect question increased to an avg of 50%.
This also may be because you faced lot of difficult problems in the next few sets.

So in Quants, you need to focus more on HIGHER-LEVEL questions to improve your score.

Please don't get discouraged by such results, it is quite possible that you may improve and get the prefect score that you desire.

Just keep focus and prepare strictly with timeline before taking next attempt.

Hi Nishit Raj,

Last year, you posted that your initial CAT Score was a 420, so this Official Score is a fantastic improvement over that Diagnostic. Before we discuss your ESR, since it's been so long since then, I'd like to know a bit more about your studies and your current goals:

1) What study materials have you used so far? Which CATs have you used?
2) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
3) Is your Goal Score still 730?
4) When are you planning to retake the GMAT?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi,

Thank You for replying. for quant I mostly Used GMATCLUB and for Verbal I was unsure so I used quite a few sources including Magoosh, MGMAT, and Ron Videos(in the end). I took three cats before the exam and score 680,710 and 640 respectively. I am planning to re-take GMAT in 6-8 weeks. I am targeting for ISB or any good courses in Finance. I Will be applying to schools this year itself.

And yes I am still aiming for 730.

1) Which 'brand(s)' of CATs have you used? Were the CATs in the old/longer format or the current/shorter format?
2) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
3) Did you take the FULL CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
