Thanks for your reply Jon, but I'm a little confused you said it helps but what do you mean by exactly? Do you think post-mba finance/asset management path would make the application stronger than consulting, which is what I want to do?

Thanks!

Hey,
Okay, that is another question altogether. What I mean is that IF you go with Finance goals, it will for sure help. If you go with Consulting goals, it will ALSO help but less. As to deciding on whether you should go for consulting or finance goals, for that I'd have to see your entire profile, and figure things out, but usually if you have finance experience, you can go wither way and both can be good.

Best,
JF

Hello,

I've a very specific question. I've passed CFA Level 2 and I'm currently working as an equity research analyst but looking to switch to Consulting post-MBA. Do you think mentioning CFA Level 2 on my application can have negative implications? Do you think it would make more sense to the admission committee if I stick to finance career post-MBA since I have done CFA Level 2?

Thanks
Well, having CFA level 2 is like having a good finance book on your bookshelf. It does neither hurts nor gives you a significant advantage while you are doing a consulting case.

Thanks for your reply JF. From the expert opinions that I have gathered so far, it looks like plans to continue with a career in finance would make my application stronger than consulting. I just want to present a best application and its not like I hate finance in fact I quite like asset management, which is why I took up CFA.

But if I'm doing a finance (asset management) case that would help?
