- GMAT 670 ( V48, V34 ) AWA 5
- Grad : Post Graduate in Family Managed Business fro SPJAIN, Mumbai
- Under Grad : B.E. Electrical from Thapar University , Patiala 2009
graduate ( 8.64/10 CGPA)
Work Experience:-
5 years 4 months
- Partner of a Company with turnover of $ 2 million ( 2012 till present )
- General manager ( Operations & Marketing ) of a Family Owned
Business with turnover of $ 14 million ( 2011 till present )
- Worked as PROJECT ENGINEER in Indian Oil Coporation Limited for a
$3.1 billion refinery project ( aug 2009- aug 2011)
Key Achievements:-
IOCL
Part of Electrical Core Group, Responsible for erection and
commissioning of Electrical Substations , for a
$3.1billion petrochemical project at Panipat Refinery.
Led a team of 7 members and coordinated with international vendors
to complete the assigned project 3 months before target.
Post commissioning, initiated the activity of electrical equipment
database collection and development of search engine for plant LAN
Intranet at Indian Oil, Panipat, India, which led to 20% increase in
problem solving
Administered the procurement of Electrical supplies of upto
$2million annually and coordinated their inventory management. Also
responsible for contract closure and lining up of maintenance
contracts.
PARTNERSHIP FIRM
Key Accomplishments (to date):
Joined the company as a partner in August 2013; Implemented
technical and operational changes which led to increase in annual
turnover from $5500 in FY 2012-13 to $1.5million in FY 2013-14. Sales
for 2014 -15 already crossed $ 2 million.
Strengthened the customer base and bagged and order of $10million
for supply of Stone aggregate in the next 3 years
Extra curricular
Developed interest in Scuba Diving in 2010; since then completed
various dives and certificate courses.
Member of Sikh Community Welfare Association, Port Blair; Organized
various donation camps for under privileged children.
Co- Founded the Andaman Bike Club; Our team has made several biking
trips in the Andaman Islands.
Was among top 0.1% of children of India CBSE examination
Questions
1) What schools do I have a chance to get into? It may be anywhere
US/Canada/Australia/Europe provided job market is good at present.
2) I donot want to join my family business back. My long term goals
are into COnsulting/Project management
3) Have to apply this year.

Schulich/Rotman/Ivey/Queens/McGill/Boston/Mcdonough/Cornell/

Hi there,
It sounds like you have solid work experience, specific measurable accomplishments, strong academics, extracurriculars/personal interests. Some of the decision will come down to how well you tell your story of your past, present, and future goals (i.e. why you want the MBA). But in general your school list sounds reasonable at this point; Cornell would likely be a reach. I encourage you to continue to research both your post-MBA goals/career plans, and specific schools. The more you can show a fit with the program, and why you think that specific school is best for you, the better.
