Guys , I am planning to apply for candadian colleges ...
Ivey for septmeber 2016 intake , Rotman and Queens too.
The best thing i like about canada is they provide job permit security.
However I am doubtful about placement scenarios in canada post mba.
I am working in IT in India from 3.5 + years and i am fine in working in IT again post mba .
Would it be easy to get job in canada from above mentioned collleges if i am not stubborn on changing my field ?
Also , what is on average salary per month in canada post MBA - around 5000$/month ? (I know this question is pretty vague but just a rough idea needed)
Your questions are on the broad end of the spectrum and probably belong in another thread, But I'll try my best to answer them:
1) Schools: Ivey, Rotman, and Queens are all great schools. But in your case I would favour Rotman because of the 3 year work permit that it provides
2) Job Placement: Remove "easy" from your vocabulary when talking about recruitment in Canada; it is extremely competitive and networking is of the utmost importance. Good jobs are earned and not handed out. From my talks with alumni of all these programs, I have been told that recruiting is even more difficult for international students
3) Your Experience: Indian students with IT backgrounds are naturally overrepresented in MBA programs, so placement will not be easy. That said I have seen many people with your profile go through the schools mentioned here and end up in Technology Consulting with Deloitte etc. If I were you I would find these people through LinkedIn and/or personal network and speak to them directly. As well, speak to the Adcoms of the schools and they can probably arrange phone calls for you to speak to alumni with a similar backgrounds to yours.
4) Avg Salary: Look at the employment reports of each school. However, I would STRONGLY suggest not focusing on this number as it is meaningless if you do not have a job at all. And often times participation rates in school salary surveys can also be questionable. But since you want an answer, yes the average MBA graduate from the three programs mentioned should expect above $5000CAD/month PRE TAX. Take that with a grain of salt though as nothing is guaranteed. There are many who make less and even more who are unemployed.
About me: I only applied to Rotman and Ivey in Canada, got offers from both.
