hi,
I am Anuj and I'm from Ahmedabad, India. I did BBA with Honours from Ahmedabad University in 2015 with specialisation in Finance and Entrepreneurship and had a GPA of 3.47 out of 4.33. (Only 20 students were selected for the Honours program out of 250 students) Participated in college and inter-college events, blood donation camps, finance club and music club. Additionally, I have done a Post Graduate Diploma in Investment and Financial Analysis from Gujarat University (result awaited) for fulfilling the 12+4 requirement. Appeared twice for Gmat - 1st attempt 620 (Q-43,V-32,IR-4,AWA-5), 2nd attempt 700 (Q-49,V-35,IR-6,AWA-6). Scored 109 in TOEFL.
Have been working in my family business of manufacturing denim (its a listed company having an annual turnover of around 150 million USD) since 2015 (handling operations majorly). I also have a startup which deals in technical textiles.
Have initiated some CSR projects and energy conservation projects at the firm.

I want to apply in a good bschool in US for MBA in fall 2018. I'm interested in general management which will help me develop interdisciplinary skills and help me grow and diversify my family business.

I'd appreciate your help for shortlisting the colleges.

- Is your desire to go back to your family business immediately after graduation, or take another role before eventually going back?
 - any thoughts regarding class size, geography, and culture of school that you're ideally seeking?

I'd like to go back to my family business after graduation..I am looking for a school that would provide enough networking opportunities so that I can expand my business globally. I would prefer a college located in the city...however I don't mind a small town if it is a good college. I am not aware about the culture of American schools..so a guidance in that area would be really helpful. Also, how will the class size affect the choice of the college?

Hi Anuj,

I would consider the following when looking at programs:

- Culture - this you can find out only by talking to current/former students and attending events if at all possible. This will give you a sense of whether you would fit in at the school and enjoy the environment (which is important, since it's quite an investment!)
- Class size - bschools can range from ~200 students to ~900 students, so it's a matter of personal preference. Some students enjoy a more intimate atmosphere where they recognize most everyone in the class after a short time - and other students prefer a larger environment where they are constantly meeting new people
- Entrepreneurial/family business resources - most all of the top US programs have resources geared toward entrepreneurs, so when you're researching, focus on these to see which ones would fit your needs
