Trying to understand what my realistic options are for an MBA w/ my academic background and work experience. Looking to apply rounds 1, 2, and 3 to prob 5-6 schools total and want to make them count. I am taking the GMAT on August 18th and have scored 650 on my last two practice tests. Goal score is anything over 700.
UG: Texas A&M, 2.7 GPA in economics. I was in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and Army ROTC.
WE: 6 years in the Active Duty Army. Worked in Infantry and IT positions managing 15-80 soldiers in each position in the US, Kuwait, and Jordan.
Target Schools: UT (McCombs), Texas A&M (Mays), KFBS, Fuqua, Notre Dame, Kelley, and Darden.
What do I need to score on the GMAT to have a chance at Top 15-25 schools? Should I set my sights higher? Lower?

Hi, and thanks for writing. Given your lower GPA, I would aim for 700+ for the 15-25 schools, and aim for a couple of schools outside of the Top 25 that still genuinely interest you. Also, do NOT apply in Round 3 - at that point, schools have very few spots left and are looking to diversify their class with the strongest and least-represented members of the remaining applicant pool, so it's very competitive then.
Sounds like you have some great leadership experience within the Army, so definitely highlight on your resume the impact you made in the roles you held.
