lifetime count are same whether you give exam online or offfline i.e. 8 in total and 5 in a calendar year

Same same. You are allowed up to 8 tests, with up to 5 in a 12-month rolling period and you can retake no sooner than 16 days after your last attempt - quite a mouthful!

Take the test in the test center if you plan to apply to Indian B schools. Many Indian B-schools do not accept scores from Online tests (GMAT or GRE).
