Ive always wanted an MBA from a top ranked university as i thought that unlocked the gates for high earning potential.
But recently with the news of layoffs and MBA grads even from top schools having a rougher time finding jobs all of this made me wonder.
Are MBA getting obsolete?
Here is my calculations:
To go into a top school you have to pay ~$200K in tuition and let go around ~$220K in opportunity costs (assuming you make around 120K a year already)
and then when you graduate the median salary is ~$175K
Whereas if you get a AI/ML masters from georgia tech (online) which costs only $7K (for the Whole program) you can stay at home AND work full time.
And then you can get a AI/ML job that can pay up to $250K....and after working a few years you can work up to 400-500K with staff or principle engineer.
Hell, if you check Levels.fyi you can see people in some FAANG companies earn up to $4 MILLION (obviously thats the exception)
So can someone please tell me if it is even worth it studying for the GMAT anymore?
