Hi Guys,

I m pretty new to this circuit.

I m a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from India(2010) with ordinary score of 60%(pretty ok in India)

currently I m working with LG International-Business DevelopmentI (IB) in automotive field.(have some excellent credentials here)

work ex-3 years(July 2013)

Co Curricular-1)BAJA SAE ASIA 2010-(Designing, Building & racing an All Terrain Vehicle)
2)Graduate level Dramatics

Social service-Not significant.

GMAT-25 July' 13

where do I stand a cahnce as far as Top B Schools are concerned, I want to pursue MIM or MBA-Marketing/Sales/IB
1)if GMAT score is 650 to 680
2)if GMAT score is 680 to 700.

Hi Aniket,

You have decent work experience and academics, try to make your profile strong by adding 700+ GMAT score. GMAT is just one of the evaluation criteria and the b-schools won't judge you only on the basis of GMAT, they look for your overall profile, work experience, leadership abilities, team handling skills, diversity, achievements at work place, awards and recognition etc., so focus on these aspects and do some brainstorming on your post MBA career goals and then research on the b-schools which will fit your aspirations. Thanks a ton for the reply!

I would definitely aim for 700+

few things I need to clarify:

1)60% Pune university score in BE=> am I even eligible for applying?
2) work level achievements => I am in Business development, here how do I quote the achievements?
as in I have some Big deals under my kitty probably biggest(value wise) in my organization world wide, but the problem is that only appreciation emails & huge incentives are "motivations" that we receive, so am not sure how do I put this in achievements? do references work here?

Regarding low academics don't worry you can compensate that with good GMAT and extra curriculars, also b-schools look for consistency in scores (10th/12th). For achievements at work place you can stress and pitch them in your application essays. Yes your recommendations come into picture here you can take recommendations from immediate supervisors, peers who know you very well or as you are in business development you can also take recommendations from the clients who can write convincingly about you. The key is to focus more on your application which carry more weight than other aspects of your profile. The question is: Why you want to earn MBA at this juncture? You need to focus on your post-MBA goals and give reasons that how an MBA from ABC b-school will help to achieve your dreams.
