Thank you both. Okay, so I'll speak to the finance club but it seems like it shouldn't be too difficult to switch coasts at graduation. What about the second part, the network. About 95% of Stern grads don't go out to the west coast, would I be giving up value since my network would be strongly represented in east coast but I'd be in the west?

(Yes, I may be overthinking it, sorry. It's a big decision!)

I bet there are more alumns of NYU on the west coast than you're imagining now. I could obviously be wrong, but I bet with time people drift out there. Does NYU have something that shows where Alumni live? Perhaps from their internal portal etc?

Your decision right now is full ride NYU or nothing, correct? hah - thats why I meant it was a no brainer :)

Cantona, good point. I'll reach out to Stern to confirm but that makes sense that alum would eventually drift there, and elsewhere. Maybe I am overthinking this, thanks for your help.

Easy choice to attend Stern. Even if Stern is slightly below the M7, the fact you have a full scholarship on your resume puts you on the equivalent of M7 when you're interviewing anyways. Recruiters aren't stupid, they know Stern is a good school, even if they're mostly seeing West Coast MBA's.

Fair points. I guess it was a two part question, with the already first being answered. The second is where I'm having concerns:

a) Would I be able to land a gig on the west coast? (And from everyone's responses, it seems like a resounding yes).
b) Would my network suffer since I would be headed west right after graduation? Mind you, I'm not originally from there so I don't have a former college/hs network to fall back on. Also, I don't mean help in landing the first gig, I mean the connections that would prove lasting over time, both career wise as well as personal.

I wouldn't worry about the network too much. Honestly, you'll utilize the network you get from your first post-mba job infinitely more than you'll leverage your old MBA classmates.

Fair point. Thanks for the help. Out of curiosity, where will you be attending, have you decided between Fuqua and Anderson?

No clue to be honest....I was leaning towards UCLA yesterday since I was perturbed Duke gave me so little money, but after sleeping on it I think I'm leaning back towards Fuqua because it's stronger in consulting, stronger in NY, and students seem to like it better. Hopefully I get into Kellogg or Booth and it makes my decision easier haha.

Good luck! I hope at least one of the Chicago schools says yes, but obviously Duke and UCLA aren't slouches so you're in a good spot either way.

Thanks man, not too optimistic since Columbia rejected me ED, but hopefully I'm wrong haha.
