All,
I need your help! I got into Stern with pretty much a full ride. I would love to move to SF post-MBA and work in IB there. I'm originally from NY and wouldn't mind another 2 years here while attending Stern. My questions are:
1. Would I have a very difficult time obtaining an IB position
in SF from Stern? I know that I would have to fly out for recruiting, and I'm okay with that. I just don't want to be at a severe disadvantage.
2. If I did end up getting an IB spot in SF, would I be like a fish out of water in that I don't know anyone in SF right now and wouldn't have an MBA network to fall back on either since most Stern grads stay in NY? Or is that overstated? I assume I'd always have the ability to move back to NY and find a similar position?
3. I applied to Haas and didn't get in. I can still make a late push for Anderson, but round 3 is definitely competitive and even if I get in, I doubt I'll have a similar scholarship. Is it worth it to (a) try for Anderson and use that as a springboard for the move to SF? or (b) turn down Stern, which I hesitate with given the amount of money I'd be leaving on the table, and reapply next year to Haas? For what it's worth, option b here is probably the highest risk with little probability but I figured I'd throw it out here.
Thanks in advance for all of your help. This forum has helped me for years now, from GMAT to apps to acceptance. I turn to you all again.
