Hi all! I was very happy to gain acceptances to the 3 schools I applied. But now I am perplexed at choosing one (picking between $$$ and better ranked program)
I got a full ride forte fellowship to attend UCLA Anderson, 40K for Duke Fuqua, and no money from Wharton. It was fairly easy to rule out Duke in my case as the $ difference between Duke and UCLA was quite significant, and I don't think the advantage Duke has in ranking justifies that cost difference for me (although I do think Duke is a more national name when compared to UCLA and it attracts lots of healthcare companies, which is an industry I am interested in). Being able to get my MBA and stay debt free certainly has quite the appeal and feel quite honored to be awarded a fellowship from the well respected forte foundation! Anderson's network is strong in CA; however, I am afraid I am not going to benefit from the network and have the same access to opportunities if I decide to come back to the northeast.
Wharton has been my top choice as I want to pursue finance / strategy after graduation and Wharton is known as a finance school. My husband and I are located in Philly suburb, so I do not have to incur all the incremental costs related to relocating, traveling back and forth in that regard. Plus, I have no doubt the Wharton brand will open many doors for me in the future and the alumni network here in Philly from Wharton is strong.
What would you choose if you were in my shoes? Any comments and suggestions are welcome! Thank you in advance!
