Wharton vs. Booth with $; offcampus recruiting

Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping to get some advice on Wharton with no money vs. Booth with a scholarship. I'm interested in non-profit consulting after business school so I will need to do a lot of off-campus recruiting. What are people's thoughts on differences between alums at the two schools (in terms of responsiveness/helpfulness, etc.)? Also, would love to hear thoughts on whether you think there is a big brand difference between the two schools and whether you think that impacts non-traditional recruiting.

You might want to clarify its Booth ($$$) on the poll - personally I'd be taking Booth with your goals and the fact they were giving me cash. The other consideration is preferred location?

Thanks! I'm not really sure how to change the poll after I have posted it. I would love to know why you think Booth is better given my goals. I don't have a preference for what city I will be in for the two years but post-grad, I want to be near Philly.

Both schools have excellent careers placement - with non-profit consulting neither one will be better than the other. Its arguable which has a better reputation but ultimately it will be personal preference given both are in the ultra elite. Both are renowned Finance schools so no preference in that regard where post mba location may affect decision.

Location wise Wharton will be easier to network for careers post MBA but the fact Booth want to give you some money would massively counter any location benefits for me anyway.

If you're flush with cash than I guess the scholarship doesn't mean much and go with personal fit preference but separating those two schools otherwise is difficult hence the scholarship completely swings it for me.

Career opportunities are essentially the same. So it comes down to money and what you want to get out of your MBA. Both schools offer very different value propositions and have very different cultures. Booth has top-notch education while Wharton has great name recognition and a wide alumni network. Student bodies can be very different, too, and I'd encourage you to talk to a few people in each school to get a feel for it. And obviously one school is giving you $$$ while the other isn't..
