Hi Everyone,
I've been fortunate to be admitted into two great schools. As someone who wants to get into Management Consulting, INSEAD seems like a great fit but I have some reservations listed in the pros and cons below. Both schools should be able to afford me an interview after which it all comes down to me. So I'm assessing the schools that will best prepare me for the world out there.
INSEADPros:1) 10 month program (Sep intake). However, I'm not too concerned with spending another 8 months in a program.
2) Network extends beyond just the US and access to the emerging markets is a plus.
3) 41% of the class got into consulting this past year. That's a pretty solid track record.
4) Slightly older crowd.
Cons:1) Can someone comment on their career services? I've heard conflicting opinions on this point.
2) While I have no issues with an intense program, I've heard that it makes it hard to completely absorb the concepts taught in class and introspect on them.
3) As an international student, the political situation in EU is giving me pause for concern. Do you think I'm being paranoid taking this into consideration?
RossPros:1) 2 Year program with an internship in the middle.
2) The MAP project sounds incredible and all the people from the school rave about this. The experiential learning style sounds amazing and aligns with how I learn.
3) UM has the largest alumni network ever, albeit it's concentrated in the US.
4) Ann Arbor is a great town and all the Rossers I've met are one of the most down to earth friendliest people I've had the pleasure of meeting.
5) Their career services + the MBA2s assisting MBA1s with case study preparations is unique and an incredible resource to have in your corner.
6) Moving from the US --> EU/Asia seems easier than the other way around. Is this correct given UM's brand value internationally?
Cons:1) US specific. Can someone speak about the brand value of Michigan outside of the US? Does it hold weight?
2) Cost associated with a two year program. Although the internship in the middle does make the burden easier and I don't consider this a con for my particular situation.
3) The H1B lottery system is a concern but I've been told getting a good company with international offices can mitigate this risk greatly.
