Thanks for your perspective Naj, really appreciated! Do you see any issue with my current level (Managing Director) and age, and finding a job post graduation that makes a 2 year hiatus worthwhile post HBS? Or any other full time program?

Per your location comment, I like the one year, international opportunities presented by INSEAD, but do struggle with the brand recognition in the US. I am currently geographically open, but would lean towards US longer term.

I think it depends why you want to do an MBA. It can still be a good personal decision even if it doesn't increase your salary or give you a promotion (I don't think even HBS will do either of those things to be honest).

I don't think 31 is too old, but thinking about it now, perhaps the EMBA does make more sense in a few years (assuming you are MD level in an organisation of size).

In the US, it depends with INSEAD who you are gunning for. Most international companies will know the name, and if you shoot for the Kellogg or Wharton exchanges you get access to their OCR.

Would love advice on:
1) Is a full-time MBA worth it at this stage in my life / career? Am i better off doing a part time? Does name/ prestige truly matter given costs?
2) Program recommendations?

Hi Undecided2020

Congrats for you admit in those great schools and welcome into the dilemma :-)

You are not tool old for a full time MBA. I'm sure that you will have new things and skills to learn. However, your questions is very legitimate for your situation. The main question is "can you get the same benefits after doing a Full time MBA, eve from HBS?" You are female with high salary in a director position. It is a rare profile to see. Can you replicate this situation again? Over the years, I saw many people blown by HBS brand and sacrifice and saw very few give up HBS for other reasons (like high scholarship). It is all depends on you. In my view, HBS gives global passport in any lace in the world but you might land a lower position with less salary in your desired field and hence it will the the tax of mobility you would pay. INSEAD will limit your direction in Europe and Asia in shorter time. I feel you are young for EMBA and your coherent will be around 40's but, as you siad, no job quit. If you choose this path, you have wide array of great EMBA such as Wharton, Booth, MIT, Columbia, Kellogg.

It boils down to "Are you willing to sacrifice some benefits for maybe other benefits in the horizon?"

Good luck

That's fantastic job getting into these programs! You must be an amazing candidate - great job!

Your situation almost seems to suit more of an EMBA environment (those are actually easier to get into), if you are happy with your job, have good trajectory, and looking to fill in your profile. That sounds either like EMBA or Stanford MSx crowd.

P.S. EMBA - you will build a network, and often a stronger one since it is a smaller group/class; you do a lot of off-sites, trips, etc. You end up bonding quite a bit and with everyone being more mature and less insecure, there is more of actual networking.

Congrats!

Hi OP,

Would you be willing to provide an update? I’m curious which program you ended up going. Looking back, do you feel you made the right choice?
