Hello,
I am in the process of applying to a full time MBA (September 2019), and I am divided between to schools, hope I can find good thoughts here, that can help me making a decision.
ProfilePortuguese women - 28 years
Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Lisbon, Portugal and 5,5 years work experience.
I worked the first 2 years in Portugal and in January 2015 I moved to Norway to start work in a pharmacy from Boots Norway. I am a pharmacy manager here since Aug. 2016.
Post MBA goalsFirst, I intend to change my job function. I would like to leave Norway, but remain to work in Europe. I see myself entering a larger organization, possibly a multinational company, and I keep my options open whether it will remain health related or not. I see myself having a leadership function, managing one or various teams and being challenged everyday.
What I was looking for:
- 1 year program
- good value for money
- good ranked school, in Europe, that has a good % of women
- my boyfriend, who is also a pharmacist, is moving with me, so it is important that the native language of the new country is English or Spanish.
After some research, my top 3 is IE Madrid, ESADE Barcelona and Cambridge JUDGE, and after some though I am now focused in the two schools in Spain, as I feel It will give me and my boyfriend more career opportunity.
IE Madrid PROS- Higher ranked than ESADE
- IE is a University VS ESADE is a business school
- Employment report shows higher salaries across the board
- a larger number of multinational companies are situated in Madrid
- campus is in the center of Madrid
CONS- around 3700 € more expensive Vs ESADE
- possibility of extending to 15 months with internship, but as an extra cost (we have to pay around 5000€)
- I have not been impressed with their responsiveness and treatment throughout the admissions process.
- I have heard through a friend that their Career Centre could be better..
ESADE BarcelonaPROS- Internship opportunity without extra cost, and usually paid
- 3700€ less expensive (it is not a huge difference)
- higher % of women than IE
-better impression of ESADE's responsiveness during the admissions process.
CONS- Lower ranked than IE
- Employment report shows lower salaries across the board vs. IE
- Campus is a longer commute from downtown vs. IE
- some companies left Barcelona because of the political instability, that happened some months ago.
My idea is to apply to both and also wait to see if I get any scholarship also, but I would like to hear some opinions.
Thanks
