Current experience: 5.5 years in upstream oil and gas operations in the Middle East/South Asia
International candidate.
Post-MBA plans: Operations Consulting
Plan B: Operations/Strategy role in a Tech company
Market: International (either European or Canadian - depending on ease of sponsorship)
No scholarship from Schulich, but 10K Euro scholarship from HEC Paris.
1) Schulich in Canada (Strong name in Canada, based in Toronto so better networking opportunity, solid placement is finances such as at TD, CIBC, Scotia, gives access to easier PR routes, and 3-year solid work permit ----- On the downside, the cohort quality, faculty, and rankings isn't the best and have taken a significant dip in recent years, no major consulting company recruits from Schulich and Rotman is a huge competitor
2) HEC Paris in France (Solid brand name, I would call the school global rather than regional, extremely diverse cohort, strong cohort quality (work experience/academic wise), 1-year visa post-MBA for jobs, solid faculty ----- on the contrary, language is a huge barrier in France, career services isn't good, generally visa sponsorship can be an issue, many consulting companies come to recruit masters students rather than the MBAs)
Hard to figure out what would make more sense in terms of investment and network. Would be great to hear from the experts.
