I am Armenian(non-EU) and have an undergrad from American University of Armenia BA in Business Administration (GPA 3.9, Best Thesis award). I have some local internships (e.g. Central Bank of Armenia) and one year experience in a no-name local consulting firm. I have also founded my own business (unrelated with finance). I have received an offer from LSE MSF and Imperial MSF. After talking to some alums I am under the impression that finding a job in the UK as a non-EU is nearly impossible. My goal is to basically break into the finance industry ( I don't care much about the location). I am looking at three options now. First, to enroll at LSE and do my best to stay in the UK ( I consider my chances highly unlikely). Second, defer my offer for one year -> get some relevant experience (e.g. Big 4) and then pursue LSE with better chances of finding a job. Third, to reject my offer -> get relevant experience for one year and apply to schools in the US that offer STEM degrees. I will very much appreciate if you gave me some advice.

Would suggest you go with option #3, if the possibility of having to return to your own country is a deal-breaker. With option #1, there is a chance that you could continue to stay in the UK, but there are no certainties, especially with Brexit not far. Deferring your offer (option #2) does not change that, so that may not help. Another option you could consider is applying to other MSF programs in continental Europe.

The thing with continental Europe is all the same, I would still need visa sponsorship which means low chances of finding a job (without relevant experience).

Yes, but the chances would be better than what they are right now in the UK. You will of course need visa sponsorship, would need that in the US as well beyond the STEM period. Anyway, hope this helped and happy to help on any other aspect as well.

The 1-year delay won't resolve the visa issue in the UK. It is still the same regardless of how much experience you have.
With a 760 GMAT and solid working experience, you can apply for the top 20 MBA in the US.

Interesting question.

Congratulations on both offers :thumbup:

I personally would go to LSE. :cool:

I believe that any company that will hire you will be your sponsor, and I dont believe you will have any problems finding a job either in London or other parts of Europe, upon graduation from LSE, which is one of the best Economics/Finance schools in Europe, if not the best. ;)

I don't believe additional one job experience is going the play significant role.

You have two options:

Enroll to LSE see how to goes with job prospects and you can still apply to US STEM programs, if you decide so.

Defer offer and apply to US MSF programs, which are all STEM btw :) .


Whatever you do, dont reject LSE, that would be a sin.

Imperial is still good, but LSE is little bit ahead in brand recognition.


Good Luck with final decision, IMO it should be your London adventure :cool:
