Hi All!
I am happy to share that I've been accepted into both the Cornell Tech MBA program (with $40K scholarship) and Duke Fuqua's Weekend Executive MBA (WEMBA). I currently am a tech consultant on the East Coast looking to move into product management within the tech sector (most likely Greater Seattle area) post-MBA. Here are my current thoughts between the two programs:
Cornell Tech (1) Located in NYC which has a growing tech scene with representation from some of the big tech companies.
(2) Curriculum is hyper-focused on tech and entrepreneurship.
(3) Program is full-time 1-year; blessing and a curse...quicker return to the industry, but little-to-no time for an internship (not to say it's impossible).
(4) Courses are cross-departmental; candidates not only work with fellow MBA students, but also comp-sci, med, law students, etc.
(5) Cornell Tech hasn't been around for terribly long, unsure of the alumni network there...
Duke WEMBA(1) I can continue working at my current employer with limited financial assistance ($15k over the 19 month program). Obviously still working full time and earning a salary would help offset the cost of tuition.
(2) Cohort is diverse in terms of work experience and industries.
(3) Access to same faculty/career services as the Fuqua Day Time MBA program.
(4) Hybrid program (mix of online and on-campus residency class sessions).
(5) Fuqua brand is attractive for long-term career opps.
I've already visited Fuqua and had good vibes; planning on visiting Cornell's Tech campus soon. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
