Profile # 2 - Applicant Lab
Demography – Indian Engineering Male – 28 years old
Education – Top 15 engineering college in India, GMAT: below average
Work Experience - Worked at a global medical device company. Helped lead the re-design of an expensive medical tool usually only available in the developing world – created a version that was effective yet still affordable enough for sales/distribution into less-wealthy markets in the developing world. Then, when he realized that the untrained/uneducated technicians in those countries were having a hard time learning how to use it, they created an online training platform so that it could be effectively deployed to help save lives. Estimates are that this new product will make this potentially life-saving technology available to millions of patients in Africa, India, etc.
Extra-Curricular – Helped lead health-tech “hackathons”, both within his company and in the broader community. Was a judge for a non-profit that was providing seed-funds to healthcare startups.
Other – did so-called “profile reviews” with expensive admissions consulting companies; they told that the profile was definitely not strong enough for M7; perhaps might get into school ranked around ~15
Post MBA Goals – Short term – Product Manager at a medical device company. Long term: entrepreneurship in affordable medical devices for the developing world.
Schools applied to – HBS, Stanford, Wharton
We will share the outcome in exactly 7 days so stay tuned and watch this space
