I have fortunately been accepted at Cambridge Judge and IESE for an MBA. I'd appreciate your input in helping me make a decision on which school to choose.
I am an Indian, so, I'd be an international in either school. Post-MBA, I'd like to switch to management consulting (UK would be a good choice, but I'm open to other places in Europe or North America as well). Plan B would be working in product management in tech. Pre-MBA, I've been working in real estate for the last 2 years in India and was working in tech for 3 years in the states before that. So, it'll be a fairly major transition.
Some of the pros and cons of the programs are listed below:
Cambridge Judge
Pros
- 2 consulting projects
- Silicon Fen around University
- Ranked top 20
- Very large alumni network
- Strong brand name, particularly well known in case I return to Asia/India in the future
- good post-grad employment stats
- UK seems to have visa laws that support employment for internationals after graduation
Cons
- Not sure if 1 year would be enough to network/find opportunities
- While Cambridge has an excellent reputation, I have seen mixed reviews about the MBA program
- There is a possible period of internship, but not sure if it'll fit well within the 1 year
IESE
Pros
- 19-month program, so more time for networking
- Internship
- Barcelona - great city
- Very strong reputation for academics, so it may be a good fit for someone making a transition to a different industry like me
- Top tier MBA program in Europe
- Exchange with top schools in US (but it looks like exchange is a better option for people with a returning offer coz that is the time when people find internships)
- Seems to have good employment stats
Cons
- Not that well known outside of the MBA circle, and really not that much in Asia/India
- Not the best visa laws for internationals in Spain. May have to tackle employment visa process for different European countries (employment part seems a little tricky for internationals)
Thanks for reading my post. I'd appreciate your input in helping me decide.
Happy Holidays.
